I’M AYSHA, THE FOUNDER.

I’m a professional wordsmith, here to help you go from writer to published author.

My love of stories began at a young age. Some of my earliest memories are of the adventures I had within the pages of a book. Since then, I have read everything I can get my hands on. Morally gray characters and suspense hold a special place in my heart. My passion for reading and analyzing stories evolved into my passion for developing and polishing stories, and over time, these passions have grown into Alpha Edits.

I graduated from Purdue University, where I majored in Biochemistry. Then, I received the Poynter & ACES Certificate in Editing. Currently, I’m enrolled in the Editing certificate program through the University of Chicago Graham School.

Before launching my editorial business, I worked with scientific disclosures at a pharmaceutical company where I project managed and developmentally edited proposals on the corporate annual publishing plan.

In my free time, you can find me pining over puppy pictures, reading your published story, writing my own stories, and traveling the world.

My Editing Approach

As your editor, I provide more than expertise in grammar rules and style guides. I am a resource for your growth as a writer and a companion in the journey of developing your novel.

I’m here to collaborate with you.

When I approach a manuscript—no matter which editing service—I keep in mind the following:

  1. Your Goals

I’m not here to morph your story into something out of alignment with your intentions. Your story is just that, your story. We will work together to ensure your end product is clear and accomplishes your goals for the story.

  2. Your Target Reader

In the introductory questionnaire, I ask you all about your ideal reader. Throughout my edit, I will keep your ideal reader at the forefront of my editing suggestions.

  3. Strengths & Weaknesses

I will always provide feedback on the parts of your story that are absolutely fantastic as well as constructive feedback on the parts that need to be developed further. You need to know what is working for you and where you have room for improvement in your story.

  4. Writing Craft

With my constructive feedback, I aim to provide you resources and/or explanations that can help you improve a skill or approach in your writing process. The goal of my editing approach is not only to help you make your story the best it can be, but also to ensure your next story is even better.
